LAKE NONA, Fla. – NC State women's tennis put together a perfect day of action on Monday as the NCAA Doubles Championships kicked off and the NCAA Singles Championships continued at the USTA National Campus.
Anna Rogers booked a spot in the Round of 16 in singles, and both Rogers and Alana Smith and Jaeda Daniel and Adriana Reami also advanced to the Round of 16 in doubles action with their first-round wins.
Rogers, who already secured status as a 2021 All-American based on her seeding, is in the midst of her deepest run in the NCAA Championships singles bracket. The Stamford, Conn., native was already the fifth player in program history to qualify for the NCAA Singles Championships and the third to do so twice, and she continued to make her own history on Monday.
Her victory made her the first NC State women's tennis player to reach the singles Round of 16.

The program's only singles All-American, Rogers came out firing in the opening set, broke Maryland's 46th-ranked Ayana Akli twice and took it by a 6-2 score. The players then held serve for almost the entirety of the second frame before Akli got a break in the final game to take it 6-4 and force a third. Rogers immediately took advantage in the third set and played up a break for the entirety to get her victory.
Monday also marked the first round of doubles action in the field of 32 pairs.
Jaeda Daniel and Adriana Reami, who are ranked fifth nationally as a pair, found themselves in an early deficit but battled back from two breaks to tie their first set at 5-5. That opening frame ultimately went into a tiebreaker which went to the Pack 7-6 (2), and they went on to take another tiebreaker in the second set, 7-6 (4) over Jessica Failla and Shiori Fukuda of Pepperdine.

Anna Rogers and Alana Smith also added a doubles win of their own over Stanford's Michaela Gordon and Niluka Madurawe. The 12th-ranked NC State pair broke to take the first set 7-5 and cruised in the second set 6-1 to move on to the next round for the second-straight time.
