Softball Concludes Series Against #6 Florida State

TALLAHASSEE FLA. – NC State took #6 Florida State down to the wire for the third time this weekend, dropping a 4-1 contest Sunday afternoon. The Wolfpack won game two of Saturday's doubleheader, 5-2, after also dropping Friday's contest by one run, 2-1.
Sam Russ led the Wolfpack with a hit and RBI, marking her 10th consecutive game with a hit.
Abby Trahan pitched another solid game in the circle for the Wolfpack, going the complete 6.0 innings. Trahan (12-8) held Florida State to four runs on eight hits with three strikeouts.
Florida State scored first for the second time in the four games with a pair of hits in the bottom of the first, including an RBI double. With a pair of runners still on, Trahan recorded the next two outs to limit the damage.
After working it's way through the second inning, NC State answered back in the third. Sam Sack led off the frame with a single up the middle before a ground out advanced pinch runner, Gracie Roberts, to second base. A wild pitch moved Roberts into scoring position before Russ delivered the second hit of the inning for the Wolfpack run.
Trahan and the NC State defense held off the Seminoles over the next two innings, but Florida State posted three runs on three hits in the sixth inning to take the lead and hang on for the win.
