Softball Set to Face #6 Florida State

TALLAHASSE, FLA. – The NC State softball team continues its stretch of three-straight ACC series against ranked opponents this weekend with a four game series against #6 Florida State. The Wolfpack are set to kick of the series Friday, April 30 at 6 p.m. followed by a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. The series will then conclude Sunday at 12 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State held Clemson to three close contests in its series last week, dropping three of the four games by one run. Tatyana Forbes led the Wolfpack last week, going 5-for-11 at the plate with two RBI, two walks and two stolen bases.
#HOMERUNMINDSET
As a team, NC State continues to lead the ACC and rank top-10 nationally with 1.59 home runs per game. The Pack has led the ACC and been in the top-20 nationally every week since opening its 2021 schedule. NC State has 65 home runs through 41 games, ranking sixth in school history and surpassing the team's total of 63 from the 2019 season.
Randi Farricker leads the way for NC State with an ACC-best 16 home runs while Angie Rizzi joins her with double-digit home runs. Farricker's 16 also rank ninth nationally.
NC State remains the only team in the country to have 60 or more home runs and stolen bases.
300 CLUB
Tatyana Forbes joined an elite club last weekend, becoming one of four active NCAA Division 1 players to eclipse 300 career hits. She now ranks third among active players with 304 hits in her career, doing so in 217 career games.
A LOOK AT FLORIDA STATE
Florida State continues to be one of the top program's in the country, entering the weekend with a #6 national ranking. The Seminoles boast a 33-7-1 record, including 21-3-1 in ACC play after going 2-1-1 against Louisville last weekend. The final game of the weekend ended in a tie after 11 scoreless innings due to a previously agreed upon drop dead time.
Kaeling Harding leads Florida State with a .308 batting average and a team-best 29 runs batted in. Sydney Sherrill is the only other Seminole with a batting average at or above .300. Sherrill leads her team with 10 doubles after breaking the ACC career doubles record last weekend.
Florida State has one of the top-ERAs in the country with a team mark of 1.63, led by Kathryn Sandercock's 1.14. Sandercock has an 18-1 record with 75 strikeouts. As a pitching staff, the Seminoles rank first in the ACC and fifth nationally with 15 shutouts on the season and the ninth best ERA nationally. Florida State also leads the ACC and ranks 18th nationally with a .977 fielding percentage.
The two teams last faced each other in 2019, with Florida State taking all three games in the series. Florida State owns a 38-11 lead in the all-time series between the programs.
