CLEMSON, S.C. – The NC State softball team is set for a top-25 matchup for the second-straight week as the Wolfpack travels to take on #16 Clemson on the road. Due to inclement weather, the adjusted schedule opens the series with a Friday doubleheader at 5 p.m., followed by a single game on Saturday at 5 p.m. Sunday's 12 p.m. series finale remains unchanged.
NC State (24-13) heads to Clemson as winners of 10 of its last 12 contests as the two teams meet for the first time on the softball diamond. NC State swept Furman in its midweek doubleheader, shutting the Paladins out in both games. In the doubleheader, Randi Farricker was unstoppable going 5-for-6 with two home runs, two doubles and a 2.116 slugging percentage. She was one of five individual players for the Pack who hit at least one home run as Farricker extended her ACC best home run number to 15.

As a team, NC State continues to lead the ACC and rank-top 10 nationally with 1.60 home runs per game. The Pack has led the ACC and been top-20 nationally every week since opening its 2021 schedule. As a team, NC State has 63 home runs through 37 games, including 20 games with multiple home runs. The 63 home runs ties for seventh all-time at NC State, matching the mark set by the 2019 team in Jennifer Patrick-Swift's first season.
Additionally, NC State has shown its speed on the base paths as the only team in the country with 60 or more stolen bases and home runs.
A LOOK AT CLEMSON
In just its second-season of competition, Clemson has come on strong with a relatively young roster. The Tigers boast a 33-4 record, including a second-place standing in the ACC.
Valerie Cagle has been a large part of the solid season for the Tigers, with top numbers both in the circle and the batting box. Cagle leads the Tigers with a 0.85 ERA and a 21-3 record while also having a team-best .388 batting average and 10 home runs. Behind Cagle, Millie Thompson has earned a 6-1 record in the circle with a 1.84 ERA.
As a team, Clemson leads the ACC and has the sixth-best ERA in the NCAA (1.37) and also ranks top-50 in batting average, scoring, on-base percentage and slugging percentage.
