
Pack Preps for Postseason with Match Play against Tar Heels

NC State scored three head-to-head wins in match
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State and North Carolina men's golf teams met at Carolina Country Club on Friday as the two top-20 ranked programs prepped for the upcoming postseason.
For the first time in history, the upcoming ACC Championship (April 23-26) will have match play. After 54 holes of stroke play, the top-four teams will advance to match play to determine the ACC team champion.
The NCAA Championship in May also has a match play component.
On Friday, North Carolina scored a 5.5-4 match play victory over the Pack as the Tar Heels took home four head-to-head wins and also halved two matches.
NC State's Easton Paxton, Benjamin Shipp and Max Steinlechner all won their matches for the Pack while Ethan Choi and Christian Salzer both halved their matches.
In a foursome match to begin the day, Peter Fountain and Austin Greaser of UNC defeated Shipp and Steinlechner, 1 Up.
NC State has won three consecutive tournaments and its three wins this season are the most for the program since the 1995-96 season.
The Pack's lineup that has won three consecutive tournaments (Paxton, Salzer, Shipp, Steinlechner and Carter Graf) combined to outscore UNC 3.5-1.5 on Friday.
NC State is back in action on Friday when it begins play in the Stitch Intercollegiate held at MacGregor Downs in Cary, N.C.
