RALEIGH – No. 24 NC State baseball (4-4, 1-3 ACC) took down sixth-ranked Miami (3-4, 1-3 ACC), 11-5, on Friday afternoon at Doak Field at Dail Park for its first ACC victory of the year.
Down 2-1 heading into the bottom of the third, the Wolfpack put up four runs on three hits, highlighted by back-to-back homers from Luca Tresh and Tyler McDonough to lead off the frame, to take a 5-2 lead.
Miami surged back to knot the score at 5-5 thanks to Jordan Lala's three-run home run in the fourth, but the Pack responded with four more runs in the bottom half along with two more in the fifth to secure a six-run lead for the final four innings.
Evan Justice and Reid Johnston put together solid performances on the mound, limiting the Hurricanes to just four hits and not allowing a run to score in the final five innings of the game.

- Butler, McDonough, Torres and Tresh all tallied two hits and two runs batted in apiece in the contest.
- Tresh belted his ACC-leading seventh home run in eight games, while Brown, McDonough and Torres went yard for the first time this year.
- Tresh extended his hit streak to 12 games dating back to the 2020 season.
- Butler has reached base safely in 27 of his last 28 games, which dates back to the 2019 season, while McDonough extended his reached base streak to 25 games.
- Justice and Johnston combined for a season-high 14 strikeouts in the game, as Justice's nine in the contest marked a career best and Johnston's five were a season high.
- Justice earned his first win of the year and seventh of his career after going six complete innings.
- Johnston threw the final three innings of shutout baseball to collect his first save of the season and fifth of his career.
