#21 Wolfpack Set for Pair of Road Matches

RALEIGH - The No. 21 NC State men's tennis team (9-5, 6-1 ACC) makes a trip south for a pair of road matches Friday and Sunday. The Wolfpack competes at No. 35 Georgia Tech (9-6, 3-4 ACC) Friday, Mar. 26 at 5 p.m. and at Clemson (7-9, 1-6 ACC) Sunday, Mar. 28 at 1 p.m.
PACK IN THE RANKINGS
In the most recent Oracle/ITA rankings released on Mar. 24, NC State checks in at No. 21.
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its first singles and doubles rankings since the preseason on Mar. 24 as well. Three doubles pairs are ranked in addition to two singles competitors.
Tadas Babelis and Yannai Barkai check in at No. 17 while Alexis Galarneau and Robert Turzak are ranked 30th. Babelis is additionally ranked with Robin Catry at No. 35.
In singles, Galarneau is the highest-ranked member of the Wolfpack at No. 13. Rafa Izquierdo Luque additionally checks into the singles rankings at 97th.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State traveled to then-No. 14 South Carolina on Mar. 19, falling in a 4-0 decision.
South Carolina took the doubles point with wins on courts two and three before going on to get singles ones on courts one, four and two to seal the match.
SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
Georgia Tech has taken on five ranked opponents in 2021, most recently defeating No. 36 Virginia Tech 7-0. The Yellow Jackets have gotten at least one point in all of their ranked matchups.
Georgia Tech checks into the latest Oracle/ITA rankings at 35th. Andres Martin is one of two ranked singles competitors for the Yellow Jackets at No. 25 while Marcus McDaniel checks in at No. 52.
McDaniel is additionally ranked in doubles with Pablo Schelcher at 38th and with Andres Martin at No. 43.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
The Tigers have taken on four ranked teams this season but have been unable to claim the win in any of those matches.
Clemson boasts four ranked doubles pairs, led by Teodor Giusca and Yizhou Liu at No. 50. Spencer Whitaker and Ryuhei Azuma are ranked 60th, and Azuma is ranked No. 78 with Jacob Jahn. The duo of Whitaker and Giusca rounds out the doubles placements at No. 80.
Carlos Kelaidis is the lone Tiger ranked in singles action, checking in at No. 75.
