Volleyball Has Second-Straight Sweep

RALEIGH – For the second-straight match, NC State swept its opponent with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-19) win against Boston College Sunday afternoon in Reynolds Coliseum. With a team, .319 hitting percentage, Sunday marked the first time this season NC State has pieced together back-to-back performances hitting above .300.
Melissa Evans notched 11 kills, tying herself with Amy Lemerman for 10th all-time on the career kills list at NC State. Evans now has 1,168 career kills.
NC State (8-7, 7-7 ACC) was led by Jade Parchment who tallied 13 kills and 14 digs for the 20th double-double of her career. Taylor Rowland had her fourth-straight double-digit kill performance, logging 11 for the second consecutive match. Kristen McDaniel rounded out the double-doubles, with the ninth of her career, registering 35 assists and 16 digs.
MATCH RECAP
NC State came out aggressive, jumping out to an early 7-0 lead behind three kills by Parchment. Parchment was perfect in the first set, registering five kills on five attacks in the first set. The Wolfpack's defense was stifling as they held Boston College to a -.065 hitting percentage with 15 digs and two blocks.
Boston College challenged NC State in a competitive second set, jumping out to an early 7-4 lead. The Pack responded to the early deficit with a 9-3 run, taking a 13-10 lead they would not relinquish. It was another set without an error by Parchment as she notched six kills on 10 swings while Evans also registered five.
NC State continued its balanced offensive effort in the third set with seven players notching at least one kill. The Eagles took another early lead, 5-3, but could not keep the Wolfpack's attack quiet for long with a 7-1 run that included five kills. McDaniel wracked up four kills, 10 assists and six digs in the third set alone.
