
Women’s Golf Completes Play In Big Four Challenge

RALEIGH - The NC State women's golf team teed off on Saturday in the Big Four Challenge at Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C., which was a one-day event with ACC in-state opponents No. 2 Duke, No. 3 Wake Forest and North Carolina.
The day consisted of semifinal matches in the morning and final/consolation matches in the afternoon, as well as 18 holes of stroke play for individual competitors. The Demon Deacons won the overall challenge, while the Blue Devils placed second. The Tar Heels finished third and the Wolfpack rounded out the day in fourth.
In its morning matches with Duke, Monika Vicario was the lone winner as she defeated Gina Kim, 5&4. In the afternoon's consolation competition with North Carolina, Isabel Amezcua defeated Krista Junkkarri, 4&3, and was the only Wolfpack player to win a match.
In the individual stroke play portion of the event, Ryann Sinclair (82, +10) was the low scorer among the Pack, and was followed by Nicole Kramer (85, +13), Shirley Ou (86, +14) and Pilar Berchot (90, +18).
NC State returns to action April 5-6 when it travels to the Cavalier Match Play event, hosted by Virginia at Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville, Va.
