STATESBORO, GA - The NC State men's golf team shot 16-under par and is in front of the field after one round play of the 41st annual Schenkel Invitational played at Forest Heights Country Club.

The Pack has a three-shot lead over tournament-host Georgia Southern. Furman is in third place, 10 shots back of NC State.
Benjamin Shipp led the Pack with a six-under par 66 on Friday and is tied for first place on the individual leaderboard. The Georgia native had zero bogeys on the day and finished with six birdies.

Max Steinlechner is next for NC State in fourth place, one shot back of Shipp. Steinlechner matched Shipp with six birdies and had his only blemish on the day on hole five with a bogey.

Carter Graf joins his teammates in the top-10 in a tie for sixth-place after shooting a three-under par 69. Graf had zero bogeys on the day and three birdies.

Christian Salzer is one shot back of Graf in a tie for 13th place. Salzer had three birdies in his opening round.

The top-four scorers for NC State on Friday combined for 18 birdies and just two bogeys.
Easton Paxton rounds out the NC State lineup in a tie for 25th place at even-par.

Ethan Choi, playing unattached also shot an even-par 72 on Friday.

The second round begins Saturday morning. NC State will tee off at 10:30 a.m.
