RALEIGH – The NC State volleyball team returns to Reynolds Coliseum this weekend, March 19-21, for its lone home ACC contests of the spring semester. The Wolfpack will host Clemson Friday evening at 7 p.m. followed by a 1 p.m. Sunday matinee against Boston College. Clemson and Boston College will also face off in Reynolds for a neutral site match on Saturday. All three contests will be broadcast on ACCNX.
NC State (6-7, 5-7 ACC) is coming off a solid performance against Wake Forest where the team posted a season-high 68 kills, led by a career-high tying 24 by Melissa Evans. Evans and Jade Parchment paired up for a duel attack, with Parchment tallying 23 kills. Kristen McDaniel also tied a personal-best with 50 assists in the match.
SCOUTING CLEMSON
Clemson (10-7, 4-6 ACC) had both its matches last weekend postponed, and split a pair of matches the week prior against North Carolina and Syracuse. The Tigers have played three-consecutive five-set matches including the team's comeback win against North Carolina. The team's win was led by freshman Camryn Hannah's 27 kill and 21 dig performance.
Hannah ranks sixth in the ACC and leads the Tigers with 3.75 kills per set. She also leads the conference in points and total kills. Cate Long leads the ACC and ranks third nationally with 32 service aces. As a team, Clemson is hitting .214, seventh among conference teams.
The two teams last met on Nov. 1, 2019 where NC State won in comeback fashion. Parchment hit a monster .818 with nine kills, playing in the final three sets of the match.
SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE
Boston College has played just two matches this spring, picking up the team's first win of the 2020-21 season against Northeastern before dropping a three-set match against #20 Georgia Tech last weekend. Clare Naughton led the Eagles in that match with seven kills, while also leading the team with 2.82 kills per set. The Eagles also have a pair of outstanding blockers as Gabby McCaa and Amaka Chukwujekwu both average above 0.80 blocks per set.
NC State last played Boston College in the 2019 season finale, where the Pack was narrowly edged in a five-set match. Evans set a then-career high with 23 kills on a .339 hitting percentage.
UP NEXT
NC State will head back on the road next week, traveling to Louisville, Ky. where they will take on #23 Georgia Tech and Louisville.
