NC State Prepared for EAGL Championship

RALEIGH - The NC State gymnastics team commences its postseason Saturday, Mar. 20 as it travels to Pittsburgh for the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championship.
The 2021 EAGL Championship will consist of two sessions, each featuring four teams. As the top-ranking team at the end of the regular season, NC State will compete against five-seed North Carolina and seven-seed George Washington in the 1 p.m. session.

2021 EAGL REGULAR-SEASON CHAMPIONS
The team earned the program's second consecutive regular-season title, having been 2020 Regular Season Co-Champions with New Hampshire.
The regular season concluded with NC State at the top of an EAGL. The squad was the only team in the league with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) above 196.000, posting a 196.094.
NC State additionally finished the regular season first in the league on vault with an NQS of 49.025 and on bars with a 49.125 NQS. The team is in the top 25 in the nation on bars and floor as well.Â
2021 ALL-EAGL HONORS
NC State tabbed 11 All-EAGL honors for the 2021 season, nine of which were First Team accolades.
Emily Shepard led the team in All-EAGL honors, claiming First Team status on vault, bars, floor and all-around. She concluded the regular season ranked first in the EAGL on vault, bars and in the all-around.
Chloe Negrete posted First Team ALl-EAGL status on all three of her events: vault, beam and floor. The sophomore wrapped up the regular season in the top five in the league on all three events, including a first-place spot in the floor rankings.
Katie Cox and Meredith Robinson each earned the second First Team All-EAGL honors on bars of their careers while Madison Benson tabbed Second Team All-EAGL on vault. Nicole Webb rounded out the honors with Second Team All-EAGL recognition on beam.
LAST TIME OUT
The Wolfpack tied the third-highest mark in program history on Mar. 13, posting a 196.900. In addition to the top-five all-around mark, the team tied the 10th-best vault score (49.200) and ninth-best bars score (49.275) in NC State history.
Shepard posted individual title-winning finishes on vault (9.900), bars (9.900) and all-around (39.425) and tied for the title on beam with Negrete. The duo scored a 9.875 on beam each.
Negrete put up a showstopping 9.950 on floor take first place on the event. The mark was a career high and tied the third-highest score in program history.
Both Negrete and freshman Carina Jordan tabbed EAGL weekly honors for their efforts at the meet. Negrete was named Specialist of the Week for the second time of the 2021 season while Jordan tabbed Rookie of the Week for the third time this year. The freshman set career-best marks on all three of her events, scoring a 9.800 on vault, a 9.875 on bars and a 9.875 on floor.
