Wolfpack Women to Conclude Season at 2021 NCAA Championships

RALEIGH – NC State's women's swimmers are set to make the short trip to Greensboro, N.C., this week to conclude their 2020-21 campaigns at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. The meet is set to run Wednesday through Saturday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

MEET NOTEBOOK:
A program-best 13 Wolfpack women qualified for this year's NCAA Championships event, and all five of NC State's relays also posted times during the season that earned spots at the national meet. The Pack's 13 selections is the fifth-most in the nation this season.
NC State's women have finished in the top 20 at the NCAA Championships six times in a row, including program-best No. 7 national finishes in 2017 and 2019. The 2020 meet was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Pack will look to win its first swimming national title on the women's side, as former diver Kristin Davies is the lone national champion for the Wolfpack women after winning on platform in 2009.

NATIONAL SUCCESS UNDER HOLLOWAY:
Since Braden Holloway took over as head coach at the start of the 2011-12 season, the Wolfpack has enjoyed unparalleled success in the pool. During the 2010-11 campaign, NC State did not score at the NCAA Championships. Since then, NC State's women have secured 123 All-America citations from the national meets.
TOP MARKS:
NC State enters the meet with 21 swims seeded in the top 16 on the official psych sheet and four relays seeded in the top eight in the nation.
Six Wolfpack women qualified for three individual events apiece at the NCAA Championships - Kylee Alons, Abby Arens, Katharine Berkoff, Kate Moore, Emma Muzzy and Julia Poole.
Junior Sophie Hansson's 2:04.87 200-yard breaststroke time stands at No. 1 in the nation, and she also owns the second seed in the 100-yard breaststroke with a mark of 57.45. In total, the Wolfpack has three women's swimmers seeded in the top 16 of both breaststroke events.
Alons enters with top-five times in all three of her individual events (50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly), and Katharine Berkoff has top four times in both backstroke events.
NC State's deepest event is the 200-yard backstroke, in which it is set to field five swimmers, with three of those Wolfpack women owning qualifying marks that rank in the top 10.
