WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The NC State volleyball team defeated in-state foe, Wake Forest, in a tightly-constested matchup, 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-22, 25-19), Sunday evening. The Wolfpack was led by its potent offensive duo of Melissa Evans and Jade Parchment who tallied 24 and 23 kills, respectively. NC State moves to 6-7 and 5-7 in ACC play.
Evans, who matched her career-high, also had a team-high 11 digs with a .354 hitting percentage while Parchment was one off her personal-best. Taylor Rowland had a standout performance with a season-high 13 kills while Kaylee Frazier had 10 digs. Kristen McDaniel also had a career day, matching her career and season best with 50 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first set was tightly contested as the largest lead came for NC State, 22-19, on a kill by Evans. The Wolfpack maintained the advantage, holding on to win the set, 25-23. NC State notched 16 kills as a team in the first set, highlighted by five apiece from Evans and Parchment.Â
Wake Forest came out aggressive in the second set, resulting in a 6-2 lead. Out of an NC State timeout, the Pack put together an 8-3 run to take a 10-9 lead. After an ensuing Wake Forest timeout, NC State was unable to regain its momentum, eventually dropping the set 22-25.Â
