Wolfpack Falls to #22 Pitt

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -Â The NC State Volleyball team fell in straight sets (6-25, 15-25, 12-25) to #22 Pitt Saturday afternoon in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Pack fought to gain momentum, but a strong first set by the Panthers was too much to overcome. With the loss, the Wolfpack drops to 5-7, while the Panthers improve to 9-4.Â
NC State was led by Melissa Evans who registered eight kills and seven digs. Jade Parchment and Kristen McDaniel contributed six kills and eight digs, respectively. Daniela McDonald made her 2020-21 debut with two killsÂ

Pitt got off to a hot start in the first set as the Panthers tallied six consecutive kills to take the early lead. Two first set kills from Jade Parchment wasn't enough as Pitt went on to finish the first set with a hitting percentage of .548, while also registering 17 kills as a team. Â
NC State came out aggressive in the second set, getting off to a 4-2 start; however, Pitt would rally with 13 consecutive points to take the lead and never looked back.Down 0-2 going into the third set, the Wolfpack looked to spark a comeback, but Pitt would get off to a 15-5 lead, before winning 25-12 and earning the three-set victory. Â
