WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – NC State men's soccer came away from a road match at No. 4 Wake Forest with the 0-0 scoreless draw on Saturday evening. The Pack moves to 2-7-2 on the 2020-21 season, with an 0-6-2 mark in conference play.
NC State started to take control of possession in the ending stages of the first half and carried that momentum into a second half and overtime periods that it dominated. After being out-shot 7-2 in the opening 45 minutes, the Pack went on to outshoot the Demon Deacons by the same tally in the second half.
NC State ended the game with the 11-10 edge in shots, with two of those coming on target. Ivy Brisma (4) and Tal Segev (3) both took multiple strikes, with Jamie Smith, George Asomani, Kuda Muskwe and Alex Bautista also adding to the Pack's shot tally that was a season high for the squad.
All three of Wake Forest's shots on goal were in the first half, with all easily saved by keeper Leon Krapf. The shutout marked his fourth of the season and the 18th of his career.
The result halted a seven-match winning streak that the Demon Deacons had put together in the series with the Wolfpack. Prior to this match, NC State's last draw against Wake Forest came in a 0-0 contest on Oct. 9, 2015.
The Wolfpack will hit the road again next weekend as it makes the trip to take on top-ranked Clemson on Saturday, March 20. The game is set for a 7 p.m. start from Riggs Field.
