Negrete, Jordan Earn EAGL Weekly Awards

STEUBENVILLE, OHIO - Two members of the NC State gymnastics team have earned East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) weekly honors, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Sophomore Chloe Negrete was named EAGL Gymnast of the Week while freshman Carina Jordan tabbed EAGL Rookie of the Week honors.
The laurels mark the first Gymnast of the Week recognition for Negrete. The Frisco, Texas, native posted a career-best 9.925 on floor in NC State's Feb. 6 quad-meet, marking the second consecutive week Negrete has earned at least a 9.900 on the event. The score was good for an individual title in the event.
Negrete additionally earned a podium finish on vault, finishing tied for third place with a 9.800. She competed on beam at the meet as well, earning a 9.800.

Jordan's EAGL Rookie of the Week honors are the second of her career. The freshman was the first Rookie of the Week of the 2021 season, earning the honors on Jan. 19. She competed in three events on Feb. 6, setting career highs on bars (9.850) and floor (9.825). Her bars score was good to tie her for first place on the rotation. The Millbrook, Ala., native's vault score of 9.750 tied her career best.

UP NEXT
NC State travels to Chapel Hill, N.C., for its second-straight meet against the Tar Heels. The competition is set for Friday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m.
