Pack Men Earn Silver in 500 Free, 200 Free Relay on Day 2 of ACC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The NC State men's swimmers added a pair of podium finishes to the tally as they continued action at the 2021 ACC Championships on Thursday. The Pack took second place in both the 500-yard freestyle and the 200-yard freestyle relay.
After two days of competition at the conference meet, the Pack men are tied for second in a close race. NC State and Louisville both have 428 team points just behind Virginia Tech's 454.
500 FREESTYLE:
After finishing just off the podium in 2020, Wolfpack sophomore Ross Dant secured a medal at this season's championship meet. He took second place in the 500-yard freestyle with his collegiate best time of 4:12.21 that still ranks third in program history.
He was joined in the A final by sixth and seventh-place finishes from Eric Knowles (4:17.62) and James Plage (4:18.44).
• B finalist: Zach Brown (4:23.09, 16th)
200 FREE RELAY:
NC State capped off its night with another second-place finish, this time in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Noah Henderson split 19.27 to lead off the race, with Hunter Tapp (19.02), Giovanni Izzo (19.16) and Kacper Stokowski (18.88) teaming up for the 1:16.33 finish. The time was good for an NCAA A cut.
200 IM:
Noah Bowers (1:44.21) and Erge Gezmis (1:44.23) were the two A finalists for the Pack in the 200-yard individual medley. They touched the wall just split seconds from one another to place fifth and sixth, respectively.
• B finalists: Luke Miller (1:44.81, 12th), Michael Moore (1:45.12, 13th)
50 FREESTYLE:
• B finalists: Noah Henderson (19.31, 9th), Giovanni Izzo (19.47, 10th), Hunter Tapp (19.64, 13th)
• C finalists: Kacper Stokowski (19.64, 17th), Luke Sobolewski (19.92, 23rd)
UP NEXT:
The Pack returns to the pool on Friday for the third day of competition at the ACC Championships. Prelims are set for a 10 a.m. start, with finals scheduled for 6 p.m. The full day will be aired live on the ACCNX.
