Stokowski’s 100 Back Gold Headlines Three-Medal Day at ACCs

GREENSBORO, N.C. – NC State's men added another three podium finishes to their 2021 ACC Championships count on Friday evening, with Kacper Stokowski's 100-yard backstroke gold highlighting the third day of action at the conference meet.
The Pack sits in third place in a tight team race as it goes into the last six events of the men's conference championship meet on Saturday. NC State has 760 points behind Louisville's 825 and Virginia Tech's 800.
100 BACKSTROKE:
Stokowski's 44.82 NCAA A cut paced him to the first individual ACC title of his career, and that mark was also good for third in program history. The Pack men have now won the 100-yard backstroke conference title four seasons in a row.

• B finalist: Giovanni Izzo (46.42, 9th)
• C finalist: John Healy (47.34, 20th)
200 FREESTYLE:
Luke Miller earned a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:32.93 in the evening session. His 1:32.28 prelims mark set a new meet record that stood through the night's finals.
Hunter Tapp (1:33.93) finished just off the podium in fourth place and Noah Bowers joined them in the A final with an eighth-place finish (1:34.49)
• B finalist: Zach Brown (1:35.18, 10th)
400 IM:
NC State also had three A finalists in the 400-yard individual medley, with Erge Gezmis leading the way with a bronze medal of his own. He touched the wall in 3:43.47 to move into fourth in program history.
Freshman Michael Moore swam the fastest time of his career in the A final, a 3:44.44 that ranks sixth in the NC State record book. He placed fifth followed by closely by Eric Knowles (3:44.85) in sixth.
• B finalist: Zachary Cram (3:51.48, 15th)
100 BUTTERFLY:
Senior captain Luke Sobolewski held down the fort for the Pack men in the 100-yard butterfly final, with his NCAA B cut time of 47.04 checking in eighth overall.
• B finalist: Noah Henderson (46.31, 13th)
100 BREASTSTROKE:
• B finalists: Rafal Kusto, Jack Moranetz
400 MEDLEY RELAY:
NC State missed out on relay points on Friday night as its 400-yard medley squad was disqualified.
UP NEXT:
The Pack men will conclude competition at the 2021 ACC Championships with a final day of action on Saturday. Prelims will begin at 10 a.m., the 1,650-yard freestyle prelim heats will be raced beginning at 3:50 p.m. and the remainder of the finals are set to start at 6 p.m. Saturday's session will be broadcast live on the ACCNX.
