Pack Tied for Fifth After One Round of Seminole Intercollegiate

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The NC State men's golf team shot a team score of one-over par to sit in a tie for fifth-place out of 15 teams at the Seminole Intercollegiate held at Golden Eagle Country Club.
Senior Benjamin Shipp fired his best round of the young season, shooting a one-under-par 71 to sit in a tie for 12th place after one round. The Duluth, Ga., native had four birdies in his opening round.
Christian Salzer and Max Steinlechner are next for the Pack in a tie for 21st place after both shot even-par on Friday.
Easton Paxton is next for NC State in a tie for 35th place after shooting a two-over par 74. After finishing in second in the first tournament of the season, Paxton got off to a hot start shooting two-under par on the front nine, but four birdies on the back nine derailed the promising round for the senior.
Spencer Oxendine made his season debut in the NC State lineup and shot a six-over par 78 to sit in a tie for 70th after one round.
Playing as an individual, freshman Nick Mathews shot an 81 and is in a tie for 81st place.
Host Florida State is in first place on the team leaderboard at 11-under par. Liberty is in second place, four shots back of the Seminoles, and Oklahoma State is in third place, two shots behind the Flames.
The second round for NC State starts on Saturday morning at 10:45 with the Pack lineup starting on Hole 10.
