RALEIGH – NC State women's basketball (11-2) extended its streak in the top five of the Associated Press rankings as it maintained its spot as the nation's No. 5 team in Monday's poll.
The Wolfpack has been ranked fifth or higher in every AP poll since Week 3 of last season (Dec. 7, 2020), making it 23-straight polls that have included NC State among the national top five. That streak is the best active streak in NCAA women's basketball.
NC State has also kept its spot in the AP Top 10 every week since Dec. 9, 2019 (40-straight polls) and in the AP Top 25 every week since Feb. 5, 2018 (70-straight polls).
The Pack has compiled an 11-2 (2-0 ACC) record this season after playing one of the toughest schedules in the nation to date. Outside of league play, the team faced seven Power Five squads, three of which were top-10 opponents and four of which were ranked in the top 20. With its wins over No. 2 Maryland and No. 6 Indiana, NC State earned a pair of ranked victories in its first month of the season for the first time since 2001-02.
NC State is back in action on Thursday, Dec. 30 as it makes the trip to Clemson. The Wolfpack then returns home on Thursday, Jan. 6 to host No. 24 North Carolina. Limited tickets for the ranked rivalry matchup remain at GoPack.com/BuyTickets.
