NC State claims seven bonus point wins, two first-period pins
RALEIGH, N.C. - The sixth-ranked NC State wrestling team won all 10 bouts, seven went for bonus points, and downed visiting Gardner-Webb 45-(-1).
The dual started at 125 pounds, and the Pack win started with a pin. #5 Jakob Camacho collected a first-period pin 2:36 into his bout to give the Pack a quick 6-0 lead.
NC State then went back-to-back decision with #17 Kai Orine winning 11-5 at 133 pounds and #18 Ryan Jack took a 5-3 win.
The Pack recorded its second first-period pin in the first four bouts, as #3 Tariq Wilson scored the fall 1:36 into his bout at 149 pounds.
#28 Ed Scott collected a technical fall at 157 pounds, as he used a pair of four-point near falls in the first and a final takedown in the second ended it early, 19-4.
The Pack went into the break up 23-0.
R.J. Mosley didn't make weight at 165 pounds and Donald Cates was awarded the forfeit and the Pack six more points.
Alex Faison got the start at 174 pounds, and used three third-period takedowns and 2:41 of ride time for a 12-4 major decision.
#15 Isaac Trumble scored a takedown in all three periods and added 2:46 of ride time for a 9-0 major decision. After the bout, Gardner-Webb was deducted a team point for not shaking hands.
The Pack closed out the dual with Deonte Wilson scoring an 11-4 decision at heavyweight.
