Gymnastics Chosen to Finish First in EAGL Preseason Poll

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - The NC State gymnastics program has been selected to finish first in the East Atlantic Gymnastics Leag (EAGL) in the 2022 season, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
The preseason rankings are determined by a vote of the league's head coaches. NC State collected 58 points and two first-place votes in the 2022 preseason poll.
EAGL 2022 PRESEASON POLL
1. NC State - 58 points (two first-place votes)
2. Towson - 44 points
3(t). Temple - 43 points (two first-place votes)
3(t). North Carolina - 43 points (one first-place vote)
5. George Washington - 35 points (one first-place vote)
6. New Hampshire - 30 points (one first-place vote)
7. Pittsburgh - 27 points (one first-place vote)
8. Long Island - 8 points

NC State returns a corps of 12 gymnastics, including five athletes who collected 10 All-EAGL honors between them in the 2021 season. Among those All-EAGL honorees is junior Emily Shepard, who was named EAGL Gymnast of the Year in 2021. The squad comes off a highly successful 2021 season in which it was crowned EAGL Regular Season Champions for the second-straight year and achieved an NCAA Regional Final berth for the first time in program history.
Fans will get their first opportunity to see Wolfpack gymnastics in action Friday, Dec. 17 at the Red & White Exhibition. The event will be held at 6 p.m. at Valvano Arena in Reynolds Coliseum. The regular season opens with a quad meet at North Carolina Friday, Jan. 7 while the home slate begins Saturday, Jan. 22 against Towson.
