RALEIGH, N.C. – The 19th-ranked NC State football team embarks on his second two-game ACC road trip of the 2021 season, as the Wolfpack heads to Florida State this weekend.
The game will kick off at 4 p.m., and will be televised on the ACC Network.
"Now we get to play another road game and a Florida State team that had a lot of momentum, had won three straight games," said NC State head coach Dave Doeren. "Just had a barnburner at Clemson. It was a one possession game and they're really doing some good things.
"They're much more physical, kind of settled in on who they are."
NC State got back to its winning ways last time out, using a 21-point fourth quarter and defeating Louisville 28-13 in Carter-Finley Stadium.
"I thought it was a really good response from our staff and from our players," said Doeren. "It was a lot of fun to be a part of a game like that and a finish like that.
"I was really proud of the faith of our team, the resiliency of our team. Just throughout the game, they hung together and showed a lot of grit."
NC State now turns its attention to a Seminoles squad that started the season 0-4, but has now won three of the last four contests – with a pair of ACC wins.
"They're a big, strong physical defensive line," said Doeren. That's the first thing you see. They're simplified on defense, and they're playing better. Playing sound, playing hard.
"Offensively they're committed to running the ball. Both of their tailbacks are really impressive, they're probably the best two running backs we've seen this season."
NC State has won three of the last four meetings against Florida State. The Pack scored a 38-22 win last season in Carter-Finley, but fell last time in Tallahassee in 2019, 31-13.
With only four games remaining in the regular season, the race to get to Charlotte for the ACC Championship has tightened up.
The Pack sits at 3-1 in ACC, behind Atlantic leader Wake Forest who is 5-0.
"November's a very important month," said Doeren. "It's the first time in my time in the league that it's been wide open for who's going to represent each side of the division that they're in. So it's exciting.
Right now in our conference to have several teams on both sides of their divisions, Coastal, Atlantic fighting to get to Charlotte, and each game is going to matter a lot."
