RALEIGH, N.C. – The 20th-ranked NC State Wolfpack (8-3, 5-2 ACC) closes out the regular season by hosting rival North Carolina (6-5, 3-4) Friday night at Carter-Finley Stadium.
Â
Great tickets are still available by visiting StubHub, the Official Fan-to-Fan Ticket Marketplace of the Wolfpack.
Â
The game will kick off at 7 p.m., and will be televised on ESPN.
Â
Before the game, NC State will honor its Senior class, as they will be playing in front of the home crowd at Carter-Finley Stadium for the final time.
Â
"It means a lot to me to be a part of senior day," said head coach Dave Doeren. "That's one thing, and I've said this to you guys in the past, as a former player, a long time ago, I remember my senior day. I remember everything about it, and so will these guys, and as a coach, it's very, very important to me to do everything we can to send them out with a win.
Â
"But senior day to me, seeing those guys in the locker room after the game it's going to be painful for them either way, and I want it to be where there's that smile on their face after a win."
Â
Not only will the Pack be celebrating Senior Day during the final game of the season at Carter-Finley Stadium, but ACC Championship game implications are heavy. The Pack must defeat UNC and then have Boston College down visiting Wake Forest for NC State to play in next weekend's ACC Championship game in Charlotte.
Â
"There's a million reasons to win a football game: rivalry week, one of our goals is to be undefeated at home, legacy opportunities," said Doeren. "Being undefeated at home hasn't happened in 35 years.
Â
Having a chance to win 10 games if we win this, being alive for the ACC championship game if Wake Forest loses, there's a million of them, and they're all important reasons."
Â
NC State and North Carolina will be meeting for the 111th time, in a rivalry that dates back to 1894 and is the Wolfpack's oldest among ACC teams. Under Dave Doeren, the Pack is 4-4 against the Tar Heels, but have lost the last two meetings.
Â
"Excited to play UNC with the starting quarterback in the lineup for us," said Doeren. "It's been three years since that happened. Last two we've had injuries at that position.
Â
"So I'm excited for that and look forward to one heck of a game. Sam Howell is in the game for them with Devin Leary. You got two fantastic quarterbacks playing in a college football game right there that have done a lot for their schools."
