
Wolfpack Dismantles Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – NC State wrapped up its road schedule with a convincing 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-12) sweep over Virginia in Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball action inside of Memorial Gym on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Wolfpack (15-12, 9-7 ACC) increased its win streak over the Cavaliers (8-19, 1-16 ACC) to eight games dating back to the 2016 season.
Leading the offensive charge for NC State was senior Jade Parchment who racked up her seventh double-double of the season with a match-high 12 kills on .290 hitting with 10 digs and two service aces. Junior Kristen McDaniel recorded her team-best 10th double-double of the season with a match-high 26 assists and 10 digs.
Set One (NC State 25, Virginia 22)
NC State started the match on fire, jumping out to an early 5-1 lead forcing Virginia to call a timeout. The Pack continued its hot play to increase its lead to 18-8 before Virginia reeled off a solid 7-0 run to put some pressure on the Wolfpack. NC State kept its composure late in the set to hold off a fierce comeback to grab the first set.
Set Two (NC State 25, Virginia 22)
The second set was a battle as neither team could maintain a consistent offensive rhythm. After the fourth tie of the set at the fourth point, the Pack used a Cavalier error and a block to gain a two-point lead at 6-4. The Wolfpack would maintain its tight lead throughout the remainder of the set despite Virginia coming within one point multiple times including late in the set at 18-17 but a kill and another Cavalier error helped NC State hold off Virginia to take a 2-0 lead.
Set Three (NC State 25, Virginia 12)
The Pack controlled all the momentum in the final set as NC State jumped out to an early 5-0 lead that turned into a 17-5 lead that was too much for the Cavaliers to handle. The Wolfpack's offense was on fire as the team hit .312 with only two errors in 32 attempts while holding Virginia to a .054 clip in the set.
