Wolfpack Falls To Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – NC State was unable to complete the season sweep of Notre Dame as the Pack fell, 3-0 (16-25, 17-25, 20-25) in Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball action inside of the Purcell Pavilion on Friday night.
The Wolfpack (14-12, 8-7 ACC) could not find a consistent offensive rhythm in the match allowing the Irish (11-13, 8-6 ACC) win the rematch and even up the all-time series at 7 apiece.
Junior Taylor Rowland recorded her second double-double in as many games with 10 kills and 10 digs. Junior Kristen McDaniel tossed 21 assists while graduate student Kaylee Frazier recorded 10 digs on the night.
Set One (NC State 16, Notre Dame 25)
The first set was all Notre Dame as the Irish took a 2-0 lead that turned into an 8-3 lead quickly that the Pack was unable to come back from. NC State struggled offensively as the team recorded seven kills in the set with six errors.
Set Two (NC State 17, Notre Dame 25)
The Pack started this set with all the momentum as NC State jumped out to an early 7-3 lead. Notre Dame did not give up hope and went on a momentum-shifting 13-1 run to take a commanding 16-8 lead that it did not relinquish. The Wolfpack tried to fight back, answering the Irish run with a quick 3-0 run but the team was unable to keep a consistent offensive rhythm for the remainder of the set.
Set Three (NC State 20, Notre Dame 25)
Notre Dame kept its fight from the second set, jumping out to a quick 5-0 run that forced NC State to use an early timeout. The Pack tried to rally back, coming within four points at 10-6 but the Irish reeled off a 4-0 run to halt any hopes of NC State making a comeback.

NC State will play its final road game of the 2021 season on Saturday, Nov. 20 when the Pack makes the trip to take on Virginia. First serve is set for 3 p.m. on ACC Network Extra. This season, NC State opened ACC play against Virginia on Sept. 24 and earned a 3-1 victory.
