ROAD TO 200
Wolfpack head coach Wes Moore is 10 victories away from 200 at NC State (190-66). He is on pace to become the fifth-fastest coach to reach 200 wins at an ACC program (behind Kay Yow's 257 games) and the second-fastest active ACC coach (behind Jeff Walz's 236 games).
EARLY SEASON HITS
• Raina Perez and Jakia Brown-Turner found some early-season rhythm in the Pack's season opener on Tuesday night. Both guards scored 18 points to lead all players on the floor. Perez scored nine of the Pack's 11 first-quarter points, and Brown-Turner tallied 10 of the team's 20 in the third. They also both knocked down a pair of threes each to combine for four of the team's five on the night.
• Perez shot 7-of-9 on the night which included a perfect 4-of-4 mark in the first quarter.
• NC State forced South Carolina into 14 turnovers, with 12 of those coming in the first half alone. The Pack's opponents last season averaged below that at 12.6 turnovers per game. The team forced the Gamecocks into turnovers in over 35 percent of their first-half possessions.
MAKE IT RAINA
After transferring into the program from Cal State Fullerton ahead of last season, Perez has not shied away from big moments on the Power Five stage. In the Pack's six games against ranked opponents over the last two seasons, Perez averages 13.7 points, 56.4 (31-of-55) percent shooting, 38.5 percent (10-of-26) from three-point range and 3.2 assists.
STRONG STARTING SLATE
In advance of its league slate, NC State is packing its 2021-22 non-conference schedule with some of the nation's best. The Wolfpack will end up facing off against three teams who finished last year ranked in the AP Top 10 (South Carolina, Maryland, Georgia) and five postseason squads from a year ago that all finished in the AP Top 25. NC State also finalized a future home-and-home series with UConn that will begin on the road next season.
