
Women’s Soccer Set For Test At Louisville Sunday

RALEIGH – NC State women's soccer (5-6-2, 1-4-0 ACC) is set for another road test Sunday when it travels to Louisville (7-3-1, 3-2-0 ACC) for a contest at Lynn Stadium in Louisville, Ky. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., and the match will be broadcast on the ACCNX.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State picked up its first three points in ACC play on Thursday night with a 2-1 2OT thriller at No. 4 Duke.
After a scoreless first half, Duke struck first in the 48th minute, but freshman Annika Wohner tallied her fourth goal of the season to knot the score five minutes later.
With 19 seconds left in double overtime, Jameese Joseph put away the golden goal, her team-leading fifth the year, to propel the Wolfpack to victory.
Duke was handed its first loss at home in 10 matches, and the victory snapped a five-game loss streak for the Pack.
MAKING HISTORY
Thursday's win marked program history for the Pack as it was:
-NC State's first victory over the Blue Devils since 2000.
-NC State's first win over a top five opponent since 2002 (Oct. 10 vs. then-No. 1 North Carolina).
-Head coach Tim Santoro's fifth win over a top 10 opponent, as he now has five wins and six draws against top 10 foes since 2016.

The Pack owns a 4-2-2 record away from Raleigh, including a 3-1-2 ledger in true road matches.

Sunday will be the 10th meeting between NC State and Louisville, as the Wolfpack owns a 4-3-1 advantage in the all-time series.
The last two times the teams met was in 2019 in Louisville, and NC State captured a pair of wins. The first meeting was on October 31 in the regular season finale, and the Pack earned a 1-0 win to secure a spot in the ACC Tournament for the third time in four years.
The second meeting was on November 3 for the ACC Tournament quarterfinals, and NC State defeated Louisville, 2-1, in overtime to make its second semifinal appearance in three years.

Louisville suffered a 3-0 loss to Notre Dame on Thursday in its last time out, marking its first road loss of the season. The Cardinals started their season with a 5-1-1 record in nonconference play before picking up wins over Miami and Syracuse to open ACC play.
They are currently tied for fourth among the league standings with a 3-2-0 ledger after finishing sixth last season to earn a spot in the ACC Tournament.
