Pack Closes Fall with Fourth Place Finish at Williams Cup

Wilmington, N.C. – The NC State men's golf team closed the fall portion of its schedule Tuesday with a fourth place finish at the Williams Cup Presented by Stitch Golf which was held at Eagle Point Golf Club.
Junior Maximilian Steinlechner was the top finisher for the Pack with a third place finish at eight under par for 54 holes. The Austria native set the course record with a 63 in the second round on Monday afternoon.
In four tournaments played this fall, Steinlechner has three top-10 performances, including two top-five finishes.
Spencer Oxendine was next for the Pack with a three-round score of one-under par to finish in a tie for eighth place. It's the best finish of the fall for Oxendine and his second consecutive top-10 finish.
Ethan Choi finished in a tie for 32nd at seven-over par while Easton Paxton finished one shot back of Choi in a tie for 36th place.
Brandon Einstein rounded out the NC State lineup with a 59th place finish.
Playing as an individual, Jake Herring finished in 58th place.
North Carolina won the tournament by nine shots over second-place Georgia, while Vanderbilt finished in third place, seven shots back of the Bulldogs.
The tournament concluded NC State's fall schedule. In five tournaments, the Pack won twice and finished second once. In the 2021 calendar year, NC State won a total of six team tournament titles.
The Pack opens the Spring slate on Sunday, Feb. 20 at the Camp Creek Seminole Invitational in Watersound, Fla.
