Wolfpack Wraps Up ITA Carolina Regional Action

CARY, N.C. - Two doubles pairs continued action for the NC State men's tennis team at the ITA Carolina Regional on Monday, both competing in the quarterfinals with one duo moving on to the semifinals.
In the first match of the quarterfinals, Fons Van Sambeek and Martins Rocens posted an impressive win over the top-seeded doubles pair in the tournament, North Carolina's Brian Cernoch and Mac Kiger. Van Sambeek and Rocens handed the North Carolina duo a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0(7) loss, securing a spot in the semifinals.
Facing Wake Forest's Jakob Schnaitter and Siddhant Banthia in the semifinals, Van Sambeek and Rocens took the first set before falling in the second third. Schnaitter and Banthia won the match 4-6, 6-3, 1-0(6).
Yannai Barkai and Luca Staeheli's doubles run came to a close in the quarterfinals as they fell to Coy Simon and Stefanos Savva of Charlotte 7-5, 6-3.
