No. 14 Men’s Tennis Set for First Road Trip of 2021

RALEIGH - The 14th-ranked NC State men's tennis team (1-1) competes in its first road match of the season Sunday, Jan. 31, taking on No. 12 Georgia (2-0) at 1 p.m.
PACK IN THE RANKINGS
NC State remains in the top 15 nationally, checking into the Jan. 27 Oracle/ITA rankings at No. 14.
Singles and doubles rankings have only been released once in the 2021 season. Fifth-year Alexis Galarneau is ranked No. 7 in singles action while senior Tadas Babelis is ranked at 95th. In doubles, Yannai Barkai and Babelis check in at No. 9 while Galarneau and Robert Turzak sit at No. 23.
LAST TIME OUT
The Wolfpack hosted a regional of the ITA Kickoff Weekend for the first time in program history Jan. 22-23, defeating Alabama 4-2 before falling to then-No. 13 Tennessee in a 4-1 decision.
After taking the doubles point against Alabama, Galarneau, Barkai and Robin Catry claimed singles wins that sent the Wolfpack to the championship match. Seventh-ranked Galarneau went 2-0 in singles action on the weekend, including a 6-0, 6-1 win over Tennessee's No. 24 Adam Walton that marked the fifth-year's first ranked victory of the season.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
No. 10 Georgia has played two matches in 2021, competing against Mercer and Florida State. The Bulldogs swept both matches, winning each in a 7-0 decision. The competition with NC State will be Georgia's first ranked matchup of the season.
Three members of the Bulldogs are ranked in the Oracle/ITA singles rankings. Trent Bryde checks in at the highest spot, No. 9, followed by Philip Henning at No. 18 and Tyler Zink at No. 73. The duo of Bryde and Zink is ranked eighth in the doubles rankings while Henning is ranked at No. 20 with Blake Croyder.

The Wolfpack returns to the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center Friday, Feb. 5 for a 3 p.m. matchup with Charlotte.
