Shepard, Benson Garner EAGL Weekly Laurels

STEUBENVILLE, OHIO - Sophomore Emily Shepard has been named East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Gymnast of the Week and freshman Madison Benson has been named EAGL Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
The honors mark the second consecutive week that Shepard has received the award and the first time that Benson has garnered an EAGL weekly honor.
In a tri-meet at Towson with Temple, Shepard posted the first 9.900 of her career, tabbing the score on the uneven bars. The mark earned her an individual title in the event. The Olathe, Kan., native additionally earned a podium finish on floor with a 9.850 and 9.825 on vault. She finished all-around competition with a 39.125Â

Benson competed in her second collegiate meet on Friday and improved her scores on both vault and floor from her first meet. The freshman recorded a 9.800 on vault that was the third-highest score for NC State on the event in addition to a 9.775 on floor.Â
