#8 Wolfpack Concludes ITA Kickoff Play

RALEIGH - The No. 8 NC State men's tennis team played in its second ITA Kickoff match on Saturday, falling to the 13th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers in a 4-1 decision.
DOUBLES
Tennessee took the doubles point, getting wins on courts one and two. Johannus Monday and Martim Prati defeated 23rd-ranked Alexis Galarneau and Robert Turzak 6-3, and shortly after Pat Harper and Adam Walton got the 6-3 win over No. 9 Yannai Barkai and Tadas Babelis.
SINGLES
The first singles victory of the day belonged to Tennessee's Monday as he defeated Rafa Izquierdo Luque 6-3, 6-0.
Moments later, seventh-ranked Galarneau took down No. 24 Walton in a quick 6-0, 6-1 victory for his first ranked victory of the season.
Tennessee's Giles Hussey defeated Barkai in a 6-3, 6-3 decision before Prata sealed the Volunteers' win with a 7-5, 7-6(3) win over Babelis.

Alexis Galarneau showed why he continues to be regarded as one of the top three or four best players in college tennis as he beat a very good player at number one singles today."
