MEET NOTEBOOK:
• The meet marks the fourth dual of the season for NC State. The men and women have both picked up a pair of dual wins over North Carolina and added victories over Duke a week ago. The Pack enters Saturday with a perfect record on the season, as its squads also won invitational action in early December.
• The Pack men have won seven duals in a row over the Cavaliers. Their only loss to Virginia in the Braden Holloway era came during his first season (2011-12), and NC State has won every matchup since then.
• The Wolfpack women have picked up just two wins against the Cavaliers under Coach Holloway's leadership, both coming in the last five seasons. NC State's women most recently defeated Virginia during the 2018-19 regular season, and they went on to also beat out the Cavaliers at the 2019 ACC Championship meet.
• Last season, NC State made the trip to Charlottesville for a dual that it split with Virginia. The Pack men came away with a 169-131 victory, while the Wolfpack women fell to the Cavaliers 173-127.
• The last time the squads faced off in Raleigh was on Jan. 24, 2019, and the Wolfpack made a statement with the big sweep over the Cavaliers. In that meet, the Pack set new pool records in nine events, and then-freshman Kylee Alons claimed the program record in the 200-yard butterfly.
• NC State has swept Virginia in each of the teams' last two meetings in Raleigh.
PACK IN THE POLLS:
• NC State enters the second half of its season with both squads ranked in the national top 10. The Pack joins Virginia as the two ACC schools with both teams ranked in the top 10.
• No. 4 Wolfpack women: jumped up three spots in the latest poll to earn the second-highest ranking of any ACC women's program behind the No. 2 Cavaliers.
• No 6 Wolfpack men: maintained spot as the highest-ranked ACC men's program
FASTEST SWIMS:
NC State Women
• A total of seven swimmers with times that rank in the national top 10 - Alons (four events), Kate Moore (four events), Katharine Berkoff (three events), Emma Muzzy (two events), Andrea Podmanikova (two events), Julia Poole (one event), Yara Hierath (one event)
• Berkoff became just the third swimmer in the program's history to clock a sub-51 second 100 backstroke time. Her 50.40 mark is the fastest in the country this season and is one of just two times under 51 seconds posted in 2020-21.
NC State Men
• As has become tradition, the Pack's distance swimmers are clogging up the league and national top marks. NC State owns the top four mile marks in the ACC after swimming that event just once this season.
• Eric Knowles and Ross Dant lead the way with a pair of national top-10 marks apiece.
UP NEXT:
