COLUMBIA, S.C. – Despite going over 315 days in between dual matches, the eighth-ranked NC State women's tennis team did not skip a beat and opened its 2021 dual slate with a strong 6-1 victory at 14th-ranked South Carolina on Wednesday afternoon.
The win marked NC State's third over the Gamecocks in the last four meetings and its first time beating South Carolina on the road. The Wolfpack has now won the last two in the series between the two teams.
After dropping just four doubles points in 21 contests played in the 2020 season, the Wolfpack picked up right where it left off by quickly claiming a pair of matches and securing the early 1-0 lead over the Gamecocks.

Jaeda Daniel and Adriana Reami kicked off the afternoon by breezing by South Carolina's Allie Gretkowski and Emma Shelton. The 16th-ranked Wolfpack duo went up a break early and then broke once again to end the match and take the 6-3 win. The pair improved to 9-1 on the 2021 campaign.
Lana Mavor and Amelia Rajecki paired up for the fourth time this season and maintained their unblemished doubles record together. They defeated Silvia Chinellato and Ana Cruz 6-3 to clinch the opening point for NC State.
No. 35 Anna Rogers, who just picked up her 100th career singles victory on Sunday, easily cruised past No. 34 Mia Horvit. The Wolfpack senior won 6-2, 6-2 to take the first singles decision of the day.
