Evans Named Preseason All-ACC

The senior earns the Preseason honor for the third consecutive year
GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the third-consecutive season, Melissa Evans has been selected to ACC Volleyball's Preseason All-ACC team, as announced Wednesday morning by the league office. She is one of 18 players to make up the 2020 list, as voted on by the conference's head coaches.
Evans joins Florida State's Taryn Knuth as the only current players to receive three consecutive Preseason All-ACC honors.
In 2019, Evans became the third player in program history to receive three All-ACC honors. She earned Second Team honors after piecing together a stellar junior season where she totaled 408 kills. Her 408 kills ranked fourth in the ACC and is the third most in rally-scoring era history at NC State. Additionally, she ranked second in the ACC with 24 double-digit kill matches last season. Evans enters 2020 just 41 kills shy of 1,000 career kills, currently ranking fourth in the rally-scoring era of the program with 959 career kills.
The conference also released its coaches poll on Wednesday, where the Wolfpack was selected to finish 11th overall in head coach Luka Slabe's first season at the helm of the program. Reigning ACC Champion, Pitt was selected as the favorite with 11 first-place votes while Louisville and Georgia Tech earned two first-place votes apiece.
The Wolfpack are set to open the 2020 slate with a pair of games in Durham against in-state foe, Duke on Sept. 25 and 26.
