King Shines In NWSL Debut

HERRIMAN, Utah – Former NC State women's soccer star and current Utah Royals player Tziarra King shined on Tuesday afternoon in her professional debut at the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup, held at Zions Bank Stadium in Herrmian, Utah.
She helped the Royals earn a 3-3 draw against the Houston Dash in the club's first match of the season. King was subbed on in the 70th minute, and with the Royals down 3-2 in the 89th minute she scored the equalizer, a header goal off of teammate Veronica Boquete's free kick.
King was the eighth-overall pick of the 2020 NWSL Draft and is the Wolfpack's first player ever drafted into the league.
The Royals will continue action in the NWSL Challenge Cup July 4 at 12:30 p.m. against Sky Blue at Zions Bank Stadium. The match will be streamed on CBS All Access and Twitch.tv (international).

"Today was just a really special day all around," King said in a postgame press conference. "From kneeling with my teammates to honor the Black Lives Matter movement, to getting my first appearance then my first goal, it was definitely one that'll go down as one of the best days ever."
