DURHAM, N.H. – The NC State gymnastics team earned a share of the 2020 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) regular-season title, as announced by the league office on Monday. NC State completed EAGL competition with a 4-1 league record. New Hampshire also attained the co-championship with a 4-1 EAGL record.
The regular-season title marks the first time the EAGL has designated a regular season champion. Each EAGL team competed in five designated league meets that were counted in their league record.
The team's only league loss came against New Hampshire on Feb. 15 in Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum in a tri-meet. The Wildcats posted a 195.150 while the Wolfpack recorded a 194.950.
The Wolfpack sits at the top of the EAGL standings in National Qualifying Score with a 196.130 as well as in overall average with a 195.603 and is ranked 23rd nationally in the Road to Nationals rankings. In its last meet, the squad achieved its highest score of the season with a 196.550 and crossed the 49.000 threshold in all four events for the first time this season.
STRAIGHT FROM THE PACK: HEAD COACH KIM LANDRUS
"It's exciting to be 2020 regular season co-champs with the University of New Hampshire," said head coach Kim Landrus. "All year we talked about building momentum. In moments that were unplanned, the team was able to hit the reset button and focus on the goals they set forth at the beginning of the year. I've been so impressed by the composure they have had over the last several months. This honor is indicative to the heart and drive that they have brought to the gym every day. I'm so proud of them!"
