#8 NC State Falls to #2 UNC at ITA National Team Indoor Championship

CHICAGO, Ill. – The No. 8 NC State women's tennis team fell to No. 2 UNC on Saturday at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship with a bid to the semifinals on the line.
With the loss, the Pack drops to 10-2 on the season, and the Tar Heels moves to 9-0.
The Pack concludes action at the tournament on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET, facing the loser of the matchup with No. 5 Duke and No. 3 Georgia.
NC State dropped its first doubles point of the season, positioning itself for the 1-0 disadvantage heading into singles play. UNC struck first on court three with a quick 6-0 victory over Lexi Keberle and Liz Norman. In a top-10 doubles matchup, No. 6 Sara Daavettila and Alexa Graham defeated No. 1 Anna Rogers and Alana Smith 6-1, marking the top-ranked duo's first loss since Nov. 6 of 2019.
14th-ranked Jaeda Daniel and Adriana Reami led 4-3 against No. 29 Alle Sanford and Makenna Jones before UNC clinched the doubles point.
The teams opened singles splitting the first sets, setting up second-set battles for a bid to the ITA National Indoor Team Championship semifinals.
Norman earned a top-25 win on court six in dominant fashion. The junior defeated No. 23 Sanford 6-4, 6-0. Shortly after, No. 30 Reami's 12-match win streak was snapped as No. 9 Cameron Morra took court three in straight sets.
UNC would close the match by winning on courts two and one, in that order.
