Beverly and Daniels add 14 points for NC State in winning effort
CORAL GABLES, FL – The NC State men's basketball team held on to defeat Miami, 83-72, in the Watsco Center Wednesday evening to complete a season sweep of the Hurricanes.
With the win, NC State improves to 15-8, 6-6 in the ACC.
C.J. Bryce posted a game-high 22 points and tied his career-high with 11 rebounds while Markell Johnson added 19 points and a season-best 12 assists.
Devon Daniels and Braxton Beverly both finished with 14 points while Manny Bates had his first double-digit scoring performance against an ACC opponent with 10 points.
The Pack trailed 9-2 early, but battled back to take its first lead of the game on a Bates shot to give NC State a 26-24 lead.
The basket was part of a 15-1 run that saw the Pack take a nine-point lead, 33-24, with 4:55 left in the half.
After Miami closed to within five at 33-28, the Pack went on an 11-2 run to take a 44-30 lead and went into the break with a 44-32 lead.
In the second half, Beverly shook loose for three three-pointers in the first six minutes as the Pack led by as many as 18 points in the second half.
