
Hartl Earns Top 20 Finish At UCF Challenge

ORLANDO, Fla. – Junior Monika Hartl of the NC State women's golf team wrapped up play at the UCF Challenge on Tuesday with a one-under par 71 to finish in a tie for 12th out of 91 players for her first top 20 finish of the season and sixth of her career.
She shot a 71 in the previous two rounds for a 54-hole score of 213, matching her career-low tournament score. The round marks the fourth consecutive under par round Hartl has shot dating back to Oct. 27, 2019 at the Landfall Tradition.
As a team, NC State matched its lowest score of the 2019-20 season with a 291 (+3) to finish 13th out of 16 teams at UCF's Eagle Creek Golf Course. No. 3 Kent State (843, -21) won the tournament while No. 13 Michigan State (849, -7) and Miami (850, -6) rounded out the podium.
Natalie Armbruester fired a one-over par 73 in the final round to turn in the lowest 54-hole score of her career, a four-over 220, to finish 47th among the individual standings. Inja Fric also turned in a strong score with an even par 72, shaving four strokes off of her previous two rounds, and improved eight spots on the leaderboard to finish T55th.
Additionally, Lea Klimentova and Pilar Berchot posted rounds of 75 (+3) and 83 (+11) to finish T73rd and 87th, in respective order.
Mim Sangkapong, who competed as an individual in the tournament, matched her career-low 18-hole score with a three-under par 69 en route to her career-best tournament total of 216 (E). She jumped 12 spots up the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 28th.
NC State returns to action Feb. 9-11 at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Mar, Puerto Rico.
