ATLANTA – NC State women's basketball head coach Wes Moore is one of 15 candidates to be named to the late-season watch list for the 2020 Werner Ladder Naismith Trophy Women's Coach of the Year Award.
The list, which was released by the Atlanta Tipoff Club on Wednesday, will be narrowed down to 10 semifinalists on March 4 and four finalists on March 19. The winner will be named on April 4.
Moore has continued to build on an incredible career with the Wolfpack and has guided his 2019-20 squad to a 22-3 overall record and an 11-3 clip in ACC play. NC State currently stands at second place in the Atlantic Coast Conference, a league that is among the best in NCAA Division I women's basketball.
Moore's team has spent 11 weeks of the season ranked in the national top 10. The Wolfpack has been ranked as high as No. 4 in the nation this season, the best national ranking for the program since the 1999-2000 campaign.
NC State's head coach was one of four finalists for this award in 2019. He also won ESPNW's ACC Coach of the Year in 2014 and was named the ACC Coach of the Year in 2017.
During his time at NC State, Moore has led the Wolfpack to a 162-61 (.726) record that includes a 74-36 (.673) mark in ACC games. Earlier this season, he earned the 700th victory of his head coaching career, becoming the 11th active and 22nd ever NCAA Division I women's basketball coach to do so.
