Wolfpack Posts Season-Best Floor Score in Tri-Meet

RALEIGH - The NC State gymnastics team recorded a 194.950 in a tri-meet with New Hampshire and North Carolina in Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum on Saturday, Feb. 15. New Hampshire achieved the highest score at the meet with a 195.150 while North Carolina posted a 194.600.
NC State began the meet on vault, posting a team score of 48.825. Freshman Emily Shepard recorded the highest score for the Wolfpack with a 9.850, and fellow freshman Chloe Negrete tied her career best with a 9.800. Shepard's score made her part of a tie for third place.
Bars was the Wolfpack's second rotation of the day, and the squad compiled a 47.850 in the event. Senior Drew Grantham led the way for NC State on the rotation, posting a 9.775. The Durham, N.C. native's score was good for a third-place finish.
On beam, Grantham notched the highest score for NC State with a 9.875 and recorded a first-place finish in the rotation for the second consecutive meet, and Negrete tied for second place with a 9.825. As a team, the Wolfpack recorded a 48.875.
Lauren Kent led off floor action for NC State with a career high, earning a 9.825 in the event. Kasey Nelson recorded a 9.825 as well.
Senior Alexis Beucler crossed the 9.900 threshold on floor for the first time in her career with a career-best 9.950 and tied for first place in the event. Freshman Chloe Negrete achieved a 9.900, also posting a career high while tying for third place. Grantham posted a 9.900 in the rotation and was part of a tie for third place. Her score marks the second consecutive meet that she has scored a 9.900 on floor.
The Wolfpack bested its season-best on floor with a 49.400, and the score sits at a tie for the sixth-best floor mark in program history.
Grantham tabbed a first-place finish in all-around with a 39.225.
