No. 10 Wolfpack Falls to No. 8 Stanford in Close Battle

MADISON, WIS. - The NC State men's tennis team fell in a close match to No. 8 Stanford on Friday in a 4-3 decision.
The Wolfpack claimed the doubles point with wins by its two ranked pairs. No. 44 Alexis Galarneau and Robert Turzak were the first to victory, defeating Timothy Sah and Sangeet Sridhar, 6-1.
Tomas Kopczynski and Alexandre Rotsaert defeated Rafa Izquierdo Luque and Collin Shick, 6-3, to even the doubles action.
The 12th-ranked duo of Tadas Babelis and Yannai Barkai gutted out a 7-6(3) win over Axel Geller and Neel Rajesh to seal the doubles point for NC State.
In singles, Stanford claimed wins on courts two, three and six to put the Cardinal one point away from clinching the match. No. 57 Sridhar was the first member of the Cardinal to get a win with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Barkai. No. 21 Rotsaert defeated Babelis 6-4, 6-3 , and Filip Kolasinski won against Martins Rocens, 6-4, 6-4.
The first singles win of the match for NC State was by No. 77 Galarneau as he was victorious over No. 16 Geller, 7-6(5), 6-4. The win marks the third time this season that Galarneau has defeated a ranked opponent. Izquierdo Luque evened the team score to 3-3 with his 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 win over Sah.
The final point came down to court five, where No. 98 Neel Rajesh defeated freshman Robin Catry in a close 6-4, 6-7(1), 6-4 battle .
