Wolfpack Records Season-High 196.250 in Dual Meet with North Carolina

RALEIGH - The NC State gymnastics team hosted East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) opponent North Carolina in Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum on Saturday, posting a season-best 196.250. The Tar Heels recorded a 193.375. NC State took the first-place spot in three events.
The first event of the night for the squad was vault, and as a team NC State posted a 48.750 in the event. Freshman Emily Shepard led the way for the Wolfpack, posting a 9.825 to finish third in the standings. Senior Alexis Beucler recorded a career-high 9.800 in the event to take fourth.
As a team, NC State topped its previous season-high on bars with a 49.075. Shepard tied her career-high score of 9.825. Junior Katie Cox set a career-high with a 9.850, and sophomore Meredith Robinson posted the same score to share a tie for second in the rotation.
Junior Lauren Kent tied her career-high on bars, achieving a 9.900 and tabbing a first-place finish. Kent's score marks the first time this season that a member of the Wolfpack has reached the 9.900 threshold.
The team bested its season-high score on beam, posting a 49.125 thanks to a three-way tie for first place. Beucler led off on the rotation for the Wolfpack, scoring a 9.850, while Kent and freshman Chloe Negrete also hit the mark. For Kent, the score tied her career high and for Negrete, it was a career best.
Junior Kasey Nelson additionally recorded a 9.800 to tie for fourth overall on beam.
Every member of the Wolfpack achieved at least a 9.800 on floor. Kent was the first member of the Wolfpack to compete in the event, and she set a career high with her 9.800 score. Shepard and Nelson additionally set career highs in the event, as Shepard posted a 9.875 and Nelson earned a 9.850.
Beucler posted a 9.850, and Negrete tied her career high 9.850 on floor. Shepard's 9.875 score and Drew Grantham's 9.875 tied the two members of the Wolfpack for the first-place finish on the event.
