Football Announces Team Awards

RALEIGH, N.C. - Although it looked quite different than in previous years, the bowl-bound NC State football team held its annual postseason awards ceremony today.
Linebacker Payton Wilson - the leading tackler in the ACC - won the team's Governor's Award, which has been given to the team's Most Valuable Player since 1960. Wilson also earned the Mario Williams Award for the Most Valuable Defensive Player and the Bill Cowher Award for Linebacker of the Year.
Senior wideout Emeka Emezie earned the Torry Holt Award for Offensive Player of the Year, as well as the Gary Rowe Award for top receiver. LB Levi Jones, who blocked three kicks in 2020, and junior kicker Christopher Dunn, who set a career record for field goals, will share Special Teams MVP honors.
RS-freshman Terrell Dawkins - who led all ACC freshmen in sacks was named the Philip Rivers Most Valuable Freshman.
