#8 Wolfpack Opens 2020-21 Campaign at Home Wednesday

RALEIGH – The eighth-ranked NC State women's basketball team officially opens its 47th season and its eighth season of the Wes Moore era at home on Wednesday afternoon when North Florida comes to Raleigh. Tip-off between the Wolfpack and the Ospreys is scheduled for 2 p.m. from Kay Yow Court inside Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum.
The game will be televised nationally on the ACC Network, and radio broadcasters Patrick Kinas and Ashley Eli will be on the call on WKNC 88.1 FM in Raleigh.
Due to health and safety recommendations and current state guidelines, home NC State women's basketball games are closed to the public.
A WIN ON WEDNESDAY WOULD...
• Be the 945th win in program history (944-471)
• Be Moore's 727th career win (726-231)
• Be Moore's 169th win at NC State (168-62)
• Be NC State's 37th straight home victory over a non-conference opponent
• Mark the Wolfpack's 18th straight season-opening win
NOTING THE WOLFPACK
• Ranked eighth by the AP, sixth by USA Today and seventh by ESPN
• Returning nine players and four starters from last season's squad that went 28-4 overall and won the ACC Tournament
• All-American and First Team All-ACC honoree Elissa Cunane is among the Pack's returners after leading NC State in scoring (16.4, 524 total points), rebounding (9.6), field-goal percentage (.547) and blocks (35) in 2019-20
• Added graduate transfer Raina Perez and freshmen Genesis Bryant, Rebecca Demeke and Dontavia Waggoner to the roster
• Selected to finish second in the ACC this season behind Louisville
2019-20 REWIND
NC State capped off one of the best seasons in its 46-year history by winning the 2020 ACC Tournament on March 8. The title was the first for NC State in 29 years (since 1991) and the fifth in program history. The Wolfpack ended the championship game against Florida State with a 13-3 run to take home the 71-66 victory.
Last season, the Wolfpack also:
• Reached 25+ wins for the third season in a row (28-4)
• Compiled the best 23-game record in program history as it opened the year 22-1
• Won a program-best 14 ACC games (14-4)
• Picked up ranked wins over No. 9 Maryland, No. 13 Florida State and No. 22 Florida State
• Earned its best season-ending AP ranking since 1990-91 when it was tabbed eighth in the nation
SCOUTING THE OSPREYS
• Returning four players and two starters from last season's squad that went 16-15 and posted its second-straight winning season
• Led by senior forward Jazz Bond who was selected as ASUN Preseason Player and Defensive Player of the Year
• Reached the semifinals at the ASUN Championship for the third season in a row
SERIES HISTORY (NC State leads 1-0)
• Wednesday marks just the second-ever matchup between the Wolfpack and the Ospreys.
• NC State's first meeting with North Florida was also played on the Pack's home court. The Wolfpack cruised to the 78-52 victory over the Ospreys on Dec. 4, 2016.
