A WIN ON SUNDAY WOULD...
• Be the 529th win in program history (528-460-98)
• Be the 190th win in head coach George Kiefer's career (189-111-61)
• Be Kiefer's 28th victory at NC State (27-25-10)
• Be Kiefer's ninth ACC win with the Pack (8-15-5)
TRACKING THE PACK (0-5-0, 0-4-0 ACC)
• A total of 19 players have made appearances for NC State, with four of those marking Wolfpack debuts.
• Goalkeeper Leon Krapf made a career-high seven saves during the Pack's most recent match against Clemson. His six first-half stops tied his previous career high, which he'd set on two occasions during the 2018 campaign.
• The last time that Krapf posted a shutout victory was NC State's most recent regular-season meeting with the Tar Heels in 2018.
• The Wolfpack's 40 shot attempts have been distributed among 12 players, led by six strikes apiece from Tal Segev and Ivy Brisma.
• Kuda Muskwe is one of 11 players nationally who has converted a penalty kick this season.
• NC State's three goals on the year have come from the feet or heads of three different players - Alex Bautista, Brisma and Muskwe.
LAST TIME OUT
• NC State's narrowly fell to third-ranked Clemson on Friday, Oct. 23 as the visiting Tigers came away with the 1-0 victory.
• Clemson's Grayson Barber netted his first goal of the season in the 63rd minute to push the Tigers to the win. The Wolfpack saw a few late looks at pulling level but was unable to find the equalizer before regulation ended.
SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS (2-1-1, 2-1-1 ACC)
• Both of UNC's wins in 2020 have been shutouts (2-0 over Duke and 1-0 over third-ranked Clemson).
• North Carolina's only loss on the year came at the hands of No. 1 Wake Forest, as the Demon Deacons took a 1-0 overtime victory on Oct. 18.
• Santiago Herrera leads the Tar Heels with a pair of goals. Five different UNC players have found the back of the net this year.
• The squad ranks in the top five nationally in save percentage (.765 - 5th) and goals against average (.932 - 5th), with both of those marks also good for top-10 individual marks by goalkeeper Alec Smir.
SERIES HISTORY (NC State trails 22-53-12)
• Sunday marks the 88th overall meeting between NC State and North Carolina. The squads also met twice during the 1949 campaign before the Wolfpack was a varsity team.
• The match will be the Pack's first regular-season trip to Chapel Hill since 2013. NC State took the 1-0 overtime victory in that game.
• The last time NC State earned back-to-back victories against rival UNC was in the 1996 and 1997 seasons.
• Each of the last four meetings between the teams have been decided by narrow final scores of 1-0.
• NC State and North Carolina have met for preseason exhibitions in both 2019 and 2020. Their last regular-season matchup was on Oct. 12, 2018 when the Wolfpack stunned the top-ranked Tar Heels at home.
UP NEXT
