GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomore Alana Smith has been named the ACC Women's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. The All-American played on court one and defeated No. 27 Mia Horvit in the squad's win over No. 9 South Carolina, which marked the program's first top-10 win.
Smith, tabbed at No. 31 in the Oracle/ITA Division I rankings, posted a perfect 8-0 record in singles and doubles combined over the course of the Pack's two doubleheaders last week.
In singles, she needed only straight sets in three of her four matches. As part of the No. 1 doubles duo in the nation with Anna Rogers, Smith helped continue the tandem's success as it captured wins in every match to contribute to NC State's 1-0 advantage heading into singles.
